Inheritance and probate in Greece

If a relative has passed away leaving property, bank accounts or other assets in Greece, we help you establish your rights and complete every step, whether or not you can travel to Greece.

What we handle

  • Advice on whether you inherit and what share, with or without a will
  • Probate of wills drawn up in Greece or abroad
  • Certificates of next of kin and registration of foreign death certificates in Greece
  • Searches for property titles at the local Land Registry or Cadastre
  • Inheritance tax filings
  • Deed of acceptance of inheritance before a notary, and its registration
  • Court certificate of inheritance (klironomitirio) to release bank accounts

How it works

  1. Initial consultation: we learn who the deceased was, who the close relatives are and whether there is a will.
  2. Locating assets: we search for properties and accounts, even if you only know the area of Greece.
  3. Documents: we gather certificates from Greece and abroad, translated and with Apostille where needed.
  4. Tax: we prepare and file the inheritance tax return.
  5. Transfer: you, or we under your power of attorney, sign the acceptance of inheritance and register it.

Documents usually needed

  • Death certificate of the deceased
  • Full name of the deceased, with father's and mother's names
  • The will, if one exists
  • Any deeds or information on properties and bank accounts
  • Your identity documents and proof of relationship (birth or marriage certificates)
